More Than Stronger Concrete
UHPC is an advanced fibre reinforced cementitious composite. Its strength comes from a carefully engineered mineral matrix working together with distributed reinforcement.
A dense internal structure restricts water penetration. Fibres help control cracking and transfer forces across cracks. High mechanical performance creates opportunities for compact components, strengthening layers and demanding structural applications.
Its value reaches beyond a strength figure. UHPC can change how a component is designed, how an existing structure is repaired and how often an asset needs intervention.
The Science Behind the Performance
A Densely Engineered Matrix
Fine particles are combined in controlled proportions to reduce the spaces within the hardened material. This dense structure supports high strength and limits pathways through which water and harmful substances can enter.
Low Water Content
Advanced admixtures allow suitable UHPC formulations to remain workable with very little mixing water. Combined with controlled curing, this helps produce a strong, compact cementitious matrix.
Reinforcement Throughout the Material
Distributed fibres bridge developing cracks and help resist their opening. This gives appropriately formulated UHPC the ability to carry tensile forces after the matrix begins to crack.
Production That Controls Performance
Accurate batching, mixing, placement and curing are essential. Material testing establishes the properties used in engineering, while project testing confirms suitability for the intended application.
Performance in Numbers
Selected values reported in CNT Plus and Steelike documentation illustrate the material’s capabilities.
| Property | Reported value |
|---|---|
| Average compressive strength of CNT Plus tested samples | 157.5 MPa |
| Manufacturer reported compressive strength | Up to approximately 186 MPa |
| Average water absorption of tested samples | Approximately 1.31% |
| Average density of tested samples | Approximately 2,420 kg/m³ |
| Electrical charge passed in chloride penetration testing | 49 coulombs at 56 days |
These results represent different test programmes and documentation sources. They are reference values, rather than guaranteed properties for every formulation, production batch or application. Project specifications require the relevant current technical data and test reports.

Why Choose UHPC?
Strengthen With Less Added Thickness
High material performance can support strengthening solutions where available space, additional weight or geometry restrict conventional approaches.
Repair Before Replacing
Overlays, local repairs and engineered strengthening details can offer an alternative to complete replacement when the existing structure remains suitable for rehabilitation.
Address Demanding Exposure
Low absorption and documented durability testing make UHPC relevant to projects exposed to moisture, deicing salts, coastal conditions and repeated environmental stress.
Protect Operational Availability
For a bridge, terminal or industrial facility, downtime can matter as much as construction cost. Suitable UHPC interventions can be assessed around access constraints, repair windows and validated reopening requirements.
Design for the Whole Service Life
The strongest business case considers installation, maintenance, future repairs and disruption alongside the initial material price.
Where UHPC Creates Value
Transport & Logistics
Bridge deck overlays, structural connections, loading areas, ramps and local repairs in heavily used infrastructure.
Ports & Marine Infrastructure
Quay rehabilitation, terminal slabs, coastal access routes and exposed components where saltwater, abrasion and difficult maintenance access create demanding conditions.
Energy & Critical Infrastructure
Strengthening and protective components for technical facilities, utility corridors and essential infrastructure.
Protection & Security
Bunkers, shelters, barriers and hardened components developed around defined structural and protection requirements.
Industrial Facilities
Targeted repairs and strengthening in areas exposed to concentrated loads, vehicle movement, wear and operational disruption.
New Product Development
Opportunities for custom precast components, marine structures, energy foundations and specialised applications developed through engineering and testing.
UHPC or Conventional Concrete?
The choice begins with the project.
Conventional reinforced concrete remains a practical and economical solution for many structures. UHPC becomes particularly valuable where higher performance addresses a specific constraint: limited thickness, demanding exposure, difficult access or repeated repair.
The two materials can also work together. A conventional concrete structure may benefit from a targeted UHPC connection, overlay or strengthening layer.
The goal is to use material performance where it creates measurable value.
UHPC Through Starfort
Starfort works with CNT Plus to connect UHPC technology with applications across the Nordics and Baltics.
We welcome discussions about material supply, manufacturing cooperation, territorial licensing arrangements and specialised project development.
Our development interests include protective structures, infrastructure rehabilitation, marine components and production methods that bring manufacturing closer to the project.
From Capability to Confidence
Every project starts with its intended function, loads, exposure and installation conditions.
We bring these requirements together with material data, engineering assessment and an appropriate validation route. Protective performance requires evidence for the specific component or system, including its geometry, reinforcement and connections.
